Company
A nationwide company that records information about registered Jersey cattle. It prides itself on making "Owning Jersey cows more profitable than any other breed of dairy cow". All of the information is available to the members to improve the Jersey cattle.

Project
The project consisted of design and implementation of an Internet based cow information service that replaces the current limited console system. It allows Internet access for members to get the genealogies of any registered cattle. The current paper records date back to the late 1800's. The new system will allow complete user access to full functionality through the WEB.

Solution
C-Sharp assisted in implementing the three-tier business object model. It involved writing DCOM objects in Visual Basic that interact with Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS) 2.0 and SQL Server 6.5. All of the data transactions were isolated through the use of stored procedures. Also, to optimize the code, emphasis was put on making one pass data retrieval whenever it was possible. The DCOM layer handles all of the database interactions along with additional user data validation. MTS handles creation and also handles rollback from the database. The UI tier consists of Active Server Pages (ASP) talking to the DCOM objects. This enforces the complete abstraction of the UI from the data store of the product.
